Road to Glory Tournaments A Success
Everyone had previously called for more fights and tournaments to be put into the UOC. In response, the UOC staff created Road to Glory tournaments for both consoles. The first format was a Veterans vs. New Guys format to help the newer members get in fights while rewarding some of the veterans who have stuck it out with the UOC for a long period of time. This first test run didn't disappoint.
Possibly the biggest surprise winner of everyone was DirtCruncher. Brand new to the league, he managed to run the table in one of the UOC's deepest divisions, the 360's Lightheavyweight Division. Instead of trying to ride the success there, he's recently decided to drop in weight and go for the belt at Welterweight. A new contender could be in the mix now in a division that has been lacking recently in not only top contenders, but also depth as a whole.
Three other 360 members were able to carry the momentum from a RTG tournament victory into a shot at the Title in their respective weight classes. Rattlesnake81 was able to come back from a lengthy layoff and set up a Title match against Big Rig Wrecker after his Lightweight RTG success. Widow-Maker187 was able to win the Welterweight division tourney. His victory pushed him into the Pound for Pound Top 10 rankings and set up a match with the current #1 Pound for Pound fighter and Welterweight Champ, Lynch96. The last veteran to win his tourney and push for a title shot was Fy8 Ny8 L3G3nd. After struggling to get over the contendership hump, FNL will look to knock off a champ that is looking to silence some critics in R3NEGADE. The other winner was Heavyweight PIRATE or NINJA. PoN wasn't able to continue to the success though and fell in his contendership match against Darrenh84.
Switching to the PS3 side, two members were able to set up title matches at the last event and one is now shifting his eyes on a title for UOC 19. JJM was able to win the Welterweight RTG division tourney and with it set up a match with the champ, DoubleAGallo. Unfortunately for him, he fell to a fourth round Submission by the champ. GetsueiKirite was also able to use his RTG success and translate it to a title shot after winning the Middleweight side. Similar to JJM though, GetsueiKirite wasn't able to capitalize as he was knocked out in the fourth round by MW champ Timaobjj.
The other winner of a RTG tourney was Butchertheweakk in the Heavyweight division. His tournament success was able to set up a Number One Contender match where he was able to emerge victorious over benz-e32. He now sets his sight on the new title holder, Why-Eric-Why, a man who he previously beat in that same RTG tournament.
The success of these tournaments will hopefully lead to more in the future. Three 360 members and three of the PS3 members were able to use the victories in their RTG tournaments to go after titles. One member was able to use a tournament as a stepping stone for potential sucess and the other was able to emerge as a top contender in his division for future events. Now many members look to the future for not only UOC Events, but also Road to Glory Tournaments.
