Top 10 Rivalries of 2009
Rivalries are great. They spark interest in competitors and drive them to want to be even better. They can even lead to not only greatness of the fighters, but also to some great conversations of other members around the league. Ever since before the UOC began, we have witness such things occurs and this had led to the creation of the top 10 rivalries throughout this great league. Let's now take a look at what the UOC Historical Committee voted as the top 10 rivalries in 2009.
10. Skarface/Rumple-Stilt-Skin- They'd face each other four times in competition with Skarface winning three of them. This rivalry makes the top 10 not necessarily for trash talk reasons, but for the level of dominance and control these two had over the Middleweight division.
T8. Widow-Maker/BJJ10thDegreeBlackBelt- These two would face off twice, "splitting" the series. It escalated after WM would call out BJJ for disconnecting and then winning the very next fight that would count at UOC 5. They would have an immediate rematch at UOC 7 that Widow-Maker went on to win.
T8. Bucket/Darren- Not sure if they will ever fight in an official UOC event, but the level of dislike towards each other leads to much hype. Both seem to troll each other a significant amount on the boards and the pleas to come to each's weight class have been numerous. Hopefully we'll see these two fight one day.
7. EzekelRAGE/M1ke0707- Hard to look past this heated rivalry. The trash talking lasted numerous events as Rage held the title and M1ke was working his way up. When the two finally met up at UOC 17, Rage KO'd M1ke in the 2nd round. Rage would later put a pic of M1ke's CAF's head in his sig and M1ke retired from UOC competition.
6. Kennuka/Arcadium- This could carry over and even win the top spot in 2010. Kennuka was submitted by Arcadium back at UOC 19 but the fun wouldn't stop there. They still trash talk each other and accusations of false identity towards Arcadium still come from Kenukka. The chances of the feud ever ending look slim and the MW division seems that it won't be a boring division for a long time.
5. Illz/EggzOverEazy- One of the earlier rivalries to make the list, Illz/EggzOverEazy provided loads of drama when the league was first starting. After a first round KO victory by Illz at UOC 2, the two continued the trash talking and had an immediate rematch at UOC 4. EggzOverEazy would get his revenge in the highly anticipated battle, winning in the third round via submission.
4. Filmgeneric/Rattlesnake81- Two former campmates would meet in the octagon at UOC 3 with a strong dislike brewing. Rattlesnake81 would score a 2nd round TKO victory over FG, but the trash talking continued after the fight. A long, 220 post thread strictly with the title "FILMGENERIC vs. RattleSnake81" would follow the match and the talk would carry on outside of that thread.
3. EzekelRAGE/Fy8 Ny8 L3G3nd- A little bit of a late run for this rivalry, but worthy of the spot. The fight would be unmatched in hype and a new record for money placed on fights (cred wise) would be created. FNL claimed that no Team Affliction fighter would beat him and was eager to prove his statement true against one of the top striking artists in the UOC, EzekelRAGE. The Light Heavyweight champ, Rage, was unable to get anything going against the Middleweight champ Fy8 Ny8 and lost via 1st Round KO at UOC 20.
2. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy/Roughhouse MMA- The first true, huge camp battle in the UOC would take place at UOC 8 between these two camps. The thread alone devoted to the fights and trash talk would go well over 40 pages! I usually don't put links to other threads in articles, but just check out some of the trash talk if you weren't around the league then. Truly great hype for a set of fights: http://www.undisputedonline.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10979
1. THC/ip0nder- Unfortunately, this fight never took place but no matter the records of either, it would have been Main Event status. The level in which THC would troll p0nder was remarkable, but p0nder would dish it back at him. THC would even go on to call p0nder "ifondle" as a way to mock him. THC and ip0nder always seemed to find a way to cross paths on the boards and it was pretty entertaining for everyone around it.
Tomorrow I'll come out with the official announcement of accepting applications for UOC News Writer positions. I'm not going to do it tonight so it doesn't take attention away from this article, and vice versa for the application. I will also be meeting with the Historical Committee to try and come up with two more Top 10 Lists, likely after the New Year. I finally want to thank all of you who are reading this for your support and activity in the UOC. I hope all of you have a safe and happy New Year.
