PS3 Camp Wars Recap
Since the beginning of the UOC, PS3 has been wanting there shot at having a camp war. Up til this point GJJA has been considered by most to be the most dominating camp in UOC History on the PS3 side. Finally all talks and hype will be settled in the highly anticpated camp war. A lot of teams have came and gone on the PS3 side. Only two long time standing teams remained, GJJA and Team Affliction. But recently three teams emerged quickly and have put together very solid rosters and are looking to make there mark on the PS3 side.
Taking a look at the teams.
Gracie Jiu Jitsu Academy- GJJA is now the longest standing PS3 team. GJJA very early on started to built a dominating PS3 team. Widely argued as the number 1 or 2 team, GJJA took on Roughhouse to determine PS3 dominance. After coming up short in the first Camp Battle, GJJA took a back seat to Roughhouse. But then as the titles started pouring in, GJJA established themselves as the team to beat. At one time or another GJJA has held a title in every weightclass. And has held as many as 4 at one time. And now in all out war they have to prove themselves one more time…. At least for the moment anyhow.
Slaughterhouse- Slaughterhouse was formed by Kimura Kid in mid December. All a fallout of LoA Kimura landed several upcoming fighters from that team. Slaughterhouse’s fighters for the most part are almost as new as the team itself, but are quickly showing they are for real, and could be a real problem for anyone that stands in the way of them. Kimura with the help of Kosta have started to put together great things at Slaughterhouse.
World Xtreme MMA- Illuminatus formed WXMMA about a month ago with the help of TapoutSolider. This team has filled its roster with a great diversity of fighters, ranging from new guys to long time veterans in the UOC. Quickly filling a sizeable roster WXMMA is looking to turn some heads in UOC. And even though they haven’t been around very long, they have seemed to get themselves in a little rivalry with new comers Slaughterhouse. WXMMA has a great number of well respected Vets and in the early going snatched a WW title from GJJA.
Wolfslair MMA- Wolfslair was the third team that formed about a month ago. This time Butchertheweakk, one of the most feared HW strikers on the PS3 side was the one behind the reigns. With the help of LW Champion Ozura, Wolfslair has assembled the roster that would seem on paper to pose the biggest challenges to GJJA. Although the roster is not as big as WXMMA most of there roster is filled with nothing but heavy hitters such as top ranked LHW PainTrain and MW up in comer EHJ. Wolfslair roster is filled full of dangerous strikers and great overall fighters.
Team Affliction- Started back at the beginning of the UOC, but did not start adding fighters until UOC 5. Led by Kassidy Team Affliction uses a similar approach as GJJA in having as much of a democracy as having a single voice. One both Xbox360 side as well as PS3 side of things Affliction has always been in the mix, holding titles at times, but has always been one step shy of being considered true contenders to knock off GJJA. Affliction gets a early opportunity at GJJA in the first round to show were they stand in the mix of things.
The Tournament Begins
Round 1
GJJA vs. Team Affliction- Both of the long standing teams earned a bye only having to fight once before the finals. GJJA jumped out to a early lead thanks to pound for pound King Dizzle. Next long standing MW Champion Timao KO’s eveas giving GJJA 2-0 lead. Next the angry Bunny Nilghual gave GJJA a 3-0 lead by subbing UOC Vet Legendsnvrdie. Then was WEW vs. Superman. And as quoted by the talkative WEW “ I won my fight”, giving GJJA a 4-0 lead. Gets vs. Kassidy was the last fight and former WW champion and Affliction Leader saved the day stopping the sweep as he was able to mount and finish GetsueiKirite.
WXMMA vs. Slaughterhouse- Two of the newer camps looking to prove themselves were the two teams that didn’t earn a bye. Needing a victory to move onto the Semi’s to take on fellow newcomers and dangerous WMMA. JJM would give WXMMA early 1-0 lead as he defeated Carld123. Then in suprising fashion Kosta tied things up as he subbed one of the most dangerous submission fighters in HW Zebo from WXMMA. Next Slaughterhouse’s most dangerous and controversial fighters Mr. GG TKO’s WXMMA fighter Focker now giving Slaughterhouse a 2-1 lead. Yomoma defeated long time top ranked ROP7R in devastating fashion increasing Slaughterhouse’s lead 3-1. Now with the win secured Nook looked to increase the dominating first round with a victory over Illuminatus. Due to scheduling, Kimura Kid stepped in place of Nook. Reversing a throw from Illuminatus and wrapping up a dominating performance by Slaughterhouse.
Round 2
Wolfslair MMA vs. Slaughterhouse- After establishing themselves as a dangerous team Slaughterhouse now looked to carry that over against fellow newcomers Wolfslair. Butcher quickly disposed of Kosta in unbelievable dominating fashion giving WMMA a quick 1-0 lead. After Yomoma dominating performance against ROP7R in the previous round, he came up short being defeated by EHJ giving WMMA a 2-0 lead. LW Champion Ozura continued WMMA’s run on Slaughterhouse defeating Nook making there lead 3-0 and now looking to sweep. One of the most feared LHW striker’s PainTrain wasn’t able to hold up against Mr.GG being defeated in the 2nd round and ending the chance at a sweep. Although out, Slaughterhouse is ending the round fighting. And right out of the mouth by Suma, Carld won there match by rape. Ending the round 3-2 and holding there heads high.
Finals
GJJA vs. Wolfslairr- UOC King’s GJJA step up to defend there crown against newcomer Wolfslair. From the early going there was back and forth talk among UOC’s members as to who would prevail. No doubt Wolfslair presented a legit threat to GJJA and in the first fight they set the tone quickly as EHJ knocked off former HW Champion WEW, giving WMMA a 1-0 and I believe shocking the UOC. Now with the back up against the wall Timao takes on PainTrain. Timao gets the victory but not without surrounded by controversy. As the match froze up Timao left as Pain had pulled a sub on him. In the rematch Timao ended up winning by 2nd round KO. But Timao did do the honorable thing offering Pain a best out of 3 with them both being tied up 1-1. And with the pressure on in a tie breaker Timao submitted PainTrain tieing GJJA back up with WMMA. But with controversy out there, GJJA felt the pressure to win out so there is no doubt of winners. And just like every match up til this point, the next would be the exact same. P4P King was rocked multiple times by Butcher but he wasn’t able to close the deal as Dizzle finally finished Butcher giving GJJA a 2-1 lead. With the pressure on WMMA now Gets and Suma went to war. Suma dominated throughout the match, made a mistake and UOC Vets Getsuei jumped on it and finished by a throw reversal. Clinching the Victory for GJJA. With one fight left WMMA looked to come out swinging, and swinging they did. LW Champion Ozura took on Nil from GJJA in one of most exciting fights I have personally seen in UOC History. Back and forth they slugged it out for nearly 3 rounds before Nil finally mounted and KO’ed Ozura giving GJJA a 4-1 victory.
Final Thoughts
Since I have been in the UOC this was one of the most entertaining things to follow. All teams came in pumped and despite the outcomes never said die. Teams fought hard for respect and I'm sure alot of respect was earned.
Thanks to the UOC for putting this on and I want to personally thank all those that fought and especially those that recorded. These were some of the best fights to date in the UOC. And congrats to GJJA on their victory. The reign continues, but with some tough camps the question will remain for how long.
