10 Fights To Keep An Eye On
After the success of the top ten rankings lists for 2009, I felt it'd be fun to do more of them. They're easier for me to right because they're not as formal, and they can provide a little debate if you're into that kind of stuff. Anyway, enough explaining, here's the ten fights that most intrigue your's truly for UOC 25.
10. Buckeyes3636 vs. Parke- This fight doesn't have much magnitude to be honest. Both are in the lower tier of LHW's right now rankings wise. Here's why it's great though. Buck has talked tons of crap since retiring and will need to back it up. I haven't seen Parke talk too much lately, but his camp leader, Darren, will likely provide a little trash talk into the hype going by prior history. The hype alone for this fight could be the best of any.
9. R3NEGADE vs. LongBeard187- The reason for this is that it's a title fight. Otherwise, it might not make it up here (no offense to either of the fighters). Seeing as how it's for a vacant title with a fighter that hardly talks and admittedly never spars facing another overseas fighter who's lost the belt twice against the prior champ, I'm just struggling to get intrigued right now.
8. Darrenh84 vs. Blunt3d_Judoka- If this wasn't for a vacant title, I might be more interested. Since Superman announcing his weight class change, the HW division has been a little more quiet. Darren never provides boring hype though so I might be reconsidering this spot later on in the week.
7. EzekelRAGE vs. B A Baruckus- Last time these two fought, Rage was flat and admittedly nervous. BA almost pulled off the upset from it but lost a unanimous decision. Last time Rage tried to make up for a performace, he dominated RMRiderRon. Will he be able to do the same to the Chute Boxe fighter?
6. B Wrizzle vs. N3XTLVL- A welterweight fight between two former heavyweights. These two are also vets to the site and have made solid names for themselves. Seeing as how this will be each's welterweight debut, it's holds a lot of weight. Starting 1-0 in this thin division is a huge advantage to quickly getting a title shot.
5. Badr Ramsay vs. Kassidy- Badr is coming off a loss in the title fight, but he still is in my top five to never have won a title (maybe an article topic for a future time). His opponent is the PS3 champ and also a veteran of the site. Kass has also fought for the belt at least two times that I can think of but never won it on 360.
4. Kenukka vs. Widow-Maker187- A Rematch from UOC 11 when both were in the Lightweight division. At the time, Kenukka won a 30-27 Unanimous Decision. I think I would have to give Widow-Maker the slight edge in the rematch, but Ken's very good at countering. Very interesting fight between another couple of UOC veterans.
3. Bobby_Boulders vs. LokiTrinity- I was surprised about where I put this, but after thinking even more, I understand why. LokiTrinity is a guy that was always among the top MW's when he was really active. Bobby_Boulders is coming off a loss to Superman last event in the title fight and can provide a little hype to fights. I'm really interested to see if Loki really is back to competing hard and if Bobby rebounds well.
2. Necrana vs. Azumiar- This is part of the Four Man GRAND PRIX to determine the next contender for the Lightweight belt. Azumiar comes in as the one seed after a win over PainTrain in the camp battles. Necrana is making his first official UOC 360 event return since winning the contender spot for the Middleweight crown. Unfortunately for him, his xbox was banned before ever getting to fight for the belt. Won't be much talk most likely, but a GRAND PRIX is awesome.
Note that GRAND PRIX must be in all caps due to how awesome it is. Lower casing any of the letters is a slap in the face to the magnitude of such greatness.
1. IIxSupermanxII vs. x KiNg v2- This battle between teammates intrigues me. King comes in after losing in the title match to DrZenga but gets entered into this GRAND PRIX with a chance to quickly get another shot. He faces his teammate IIxSupermanxII in his LW debut though. Superman is already 1-0 in LW beating the current champ. On top of the fact that it's teammates, it's also the classic Striker vs. Grappler matchup. Can't wait to watch the video of this one.
In closing, UOC 25 doesn't provide as many title fights as some of the prior events, but it does provide some hype worthy fights. We still get two championship fights, some rematches, and the returns of a lot of noteworthy fighters. Oh and finally, we also get a GRAND PRIX! (Yeah I know, it's still awesome after typing it the fourth time in this article)
