New Tournament to Start for UOC 27
The recent news of the Heavyweight Title being vacated again due to unforseen circumstances sent the division in waves. The Heavyweight division has already been thin due to others leaving for different challenges and the vacancy of the title didn't help it any. It left the UOC scrambling to decide what to do. Different tournaments were brought up, but one finally stood out above the rest.
There will now be a twelve man tournament to determine the next UOC HW champion. The criteria for the twelve person field consisted of eight current heavyweight fighters and then four other veterans within the UOC. These four vets have either just moved to HW or agreed to move. None of the twelve have won a title yet, but the competition within this tournament is some of the best we've had. There's no way the "paper belt" title can really be applied now to this group.
For the fighters, all first round fights will count as the participants' UOC 27 fight. If someone has a bye (the top four ranked fighters receive these), it'll be his second round fight that counts. If you win, you get a bonus fight. The hope is to have this tournament done up to the finals before UOC 28 (the title fight will be a main event fight at UOC 28). Also, the people in this tournament must still sign up as a HW for this event. We need to still see the styles that you'll be using for the tournament. I haven't confirmed participation with everyone, but if you don't want in I'll remove you and find a replacement. Just let me know asap so I am able to adjust accordingly.
Anyway, here is the list of participants:
1. Bobby_Boulders- Was originally planned to be fighting for the HW championship this event. Since the vacancy, he's openly lobbied for a tournament to start. He'll face the winner of the 8 vs. 9 fight.
2. Ceedamonster- Lost last event in a number one contender match to Bobby which put him in this spot. He'll now set his sights on the winner of the 7 vs. 10 fight.
3. x KiNg v2- Won his UOC HW debut fight at 26 against HW vet B Wrizzle. He'll be facing the winner of the 6 vs. 11 fight.
4. B Wrizzle- A veteran of the UOC. Wriz is one of only three in this field to have fought for the HW belt. He also receives a bye and will face the 5 vs. 12 winner.
5. Dr. Octagon- Still a newer member of the site, Doctor is 3-2 in the UOC currently and is coming off a recent win at UOC 26.
6. Blunt3d_Judoka- Dropped a few spots due to taking an event off, but his last fight was a HW championship loss.
7. FiReMaN11d7- Will be looking to rebound from a couple of recent setbacks in UOC competition but has been typically a top 10 heavyweight.
8. zmclinn- One of the longest active heavyweights in the UOC and like Fireman, typically a top 10 fighter.
9. Kenukka- Recently has moved to HW after a loss to now #1 MW contender R3NEGADE. He'll now look to quickly win a belt in his new division.
10. Necrana- Recent #1 contender within the PS3 LW division, but he's been in a recent slump on the 360 side. Will a change of scenery get him out of it?
11. Kassidy- Former PS3 WW champion and top contender in the 360 WW division, he'll now switch divisions to try and become the first to win a title on two different consoles.
12. ip0nder- One of the longest running veterans on this site and was even a Main Event fighter on UOC 1. He'll now try and become a champion on his first weight class switch.
** A pretty bracket for this tournament will be relased soon
Other HUGE 360 fights that will happen for UOC 27 are:
Dr. Zenga vs. Superman II for the LW Title- Superman was able to win the first matchup when it was a superfight. Now Zenga will look to get revenge and defend his belt in what he has said will be his last fight in the UOC.
Caribbean Knight vs. Big Rig Wrecker- These two are the best 360 sub artists the UOC has. Will either be able to sub the other or will we see one of them score a KO victory? The winner of this is also likely to be getting a shot at the Welterweight title.
Fy8 Ny8 L3G3nd vs. R3NEGADE III for the MW Title- Fy8 is 2-0 vs. R3N. Will the third time be the charm?
