 UOC Rules Update

UOC Rules Update

Thanks to everybody for their patience. This thread has been a long time coming, seems everytime something comes up before we can do anything about it theres something new and they just keep adding up. Until recently, we (the staff) hadn’t had a time where everyone was online to discuss all the issues and situations going on in the UOC. Within this thread, I will be addressing: Belt Defences and Champion Rewards, Sub Spamming and Sub Transition Cancelling, Paralyzing Elbows, Premature Quitting, and Deadlines for UOC Events. Not to mention the current debate of Style Switching and who is onboard Staff at this moment.

I’d like to mention, before I even get into all the fun stuff, anything posted below comes in to affect now. Anything previous will stand as is, unaltered.

Firstly, we’ve come into a situation with our UOC Champions. Originally it was mentioned that they would defend their belt every other event, this is no longer the case. If their is a clear-cut contender for the title of any weightclass, the current Champion of said weightclass will be set to defend their belt. If we do not have a clear-cut contender, a match between possibles will be held.

That being said. During an event in which our Champions are not defending their belts, they will be asked to fight in a different division of their choice. This is only available to the Current belt holders as their reward for being such. They will also be given the opportunity to hold a second title belt. However; they must win at least four fights in the division before they can have a title shot. This is going to set up for some interesting Super Fights. Lets hope some of them have video recording devices…

Many of you have been arguing over Submission Spamming and the Submission Transition Cancelling (no they are not the same). While going over every possible angle we could on these issues, both will deemed as illegal in the UOC under certain circumstances. Unfortunately, both of these are rather touchy subjects.

We realize there are times when a fighter attempts a transition, or you reverse punches or throws and slams into reversal submission attempts. Some members argue that players should be forced to try and follow through with the submission while the majority think otherwise. If you feel necessary, you are allowed to cancel out of a submission. Also; in the UOC’s attempt to try and keep the competitions relatively real to UFC standards, we believe it acceptable to use a submission attempt to improve your position (Do not use this repeatedly however, as it could then be considered submission spamming). Example: Rear Naked Choke from back side control. However, the use of submission attempts to unfairly maintain an advantage is prohibited. Example: Using the Mounted Triangle attempt to reset transition count.

A quick explanation to those of you that are learning about Submission Transition Cancelling: If you are in full mount defence, depending on ground grapple stats there is a set number to transition attempts. If you attempt to roll out of the mount, say four times in a row, eventually you are going to get regardless of any blocks. The way the submission works is, when a player attempts the Triangle (or even the armbar), it resets this count to zero, thus making it nearly impossible to get out of the mount to a player who has any decent ground skills.

It has been in the rules since the UOC opened: Using an exploit to give the player an unfair advantage was bannable. Its a bit late to make any action now but always have your camera or recording device at the ready, it never happened if there is no proof. Any player caught using this exploit will recieve punishment. Those of you who have used it know who you are and I expect you to stop.

Another big issue that was talked about and tested amongst, not just the staff, but many members of the UOC community, were the Paralysing Muay Thai Elbows. The MT Elbows are faster then regulars and the problem would occur when you get caught deep enough against an opponent with full speed and there was nothing you could do about it. Basically its just continuous elbows until a Knockout or TKO victory occurs.

Now, banning the MT Elbows would just not be done. They are part of the game and elbows happen, but use them realistically. In no UFC match will fighters stand toe to toe with one throwing fifteen to twenty eblows in-a-row. The originally talk was to call anymore then three or four in a row to be illegal. I don’t think we’ve had many issues regarding this within the UOC itself, mostly in ranked, but we’re keeping things clear.

With THQ’s update, I don’t think we have much to worry about on the grounds of Premature Quitting (disconnecting before the match results save). For the UOC this is now illegal. If you are going to get a loss regardless, just go through with it out of respect for your fellow community members. Also because our members reflect Undisputed Online while playing ranked. If you have a member disconnect on you, take a picture and send a private message to myself (Nilhgual) and a suspension will be in order. May I remind you, no old pictures, this is only from here on out.

Starting with UOC 13, the signups for events is now going to start including the Fighting Styles you are going to use. The majority of people have complained about training for a certain style and their opponent shows up as somethign completely different, or changes at the fighter selection screen. Because the posts in the signup threads are uneditable, members will be able to go back once the card is released and view what styles to train for their upcoming UOC match. The fighting styles entered will only be locked in for that event and you may still feel free to switch between styles for other events. Also; as long as the OVR stays under the cap limit of 100, you may still have multiple CAF’s of the same fighting styles.

For those of you that disagree with being forced to use the selected fighting style for the event, don’t lose all hope!  The staff are still looking into this further. Possibly down the road we could have one major and two minor fighting styles. Example: Major-Boxing, Minors-BJJ/Judo. Or pending on if we set minors to Striking; Major-BJJ, Minors-Boxing/Muay Thai.

Now that we’re on the subject of events somewhat, the deadlines in the UOC are going to become a little stricter. For every event, I make a post in the Undisputed Online News section talking about the card, when the signups open and close, and when the deadline for reporting your matches are. Thus far I think I’ve been being pretty lenient with the dates and times posted. However it gets tiresome adding people onto the fight card half a week after the signups closed, or getting match results when we’ve already moved on to the next event (with the exception of any time extensions I’ve allowed).

The signups for every event are Friday around 6:00PM Eastern Time (GMT-05:00), until Monday around 8:00PM Eastern Time. It’s been like that for the last three events, there are to be no more “I missed the signups can I still get in”.  Everyone knows when they are, there should be no reason to miss them. Once the signups close Monday, that’s it. There will be no sneaking people in. As for match reports, anything past the reporting deadline will just be deleted and void. If both fighters fail to produce match results the match will be deleted from the card, neither fighting getting a loss, or win.

This brings me to No Shows. These have been decreasing more as we thread out the inactive players and most the fights seem to be getting completed. Thanks guys. I am still looking into these more, personally I’d like nothing more to abolish no shows completely. I will start posting the No Shows on the final results card so everyone can see who didn’t show up for a fight. I know before we had them suspended for one event but that really became a pain in the butt to reinstate them after and what not. I’ll think of something!

Lastly; just a quick update of staffing situation. Joker is still off at Police Academy. Jube is pretty busy with real life work, but still makes a few graphics for the site when he has time and hes working on something new for you guys. Cru sadly, seems to have disappeared. Not completely sure why, but we all hope he’s doing well. I’m going to close his PM box, you can route them towards myself instead. Filmgeneric is currently having troubles with his laptop, the charger shorted out, and he’s in the process of moving out. We hope to see him back in full swing in a few weeks time. Gardnerd is holding up the forums moderater position. Since he was AWOL for awhile, Papabear, as I’m sure many have clued into by now, is our new fulltime Ladder Staff. He’s been doing a great job keeping ontop of tickets, thanks Papa! We have a couple community members who are now helping to make the event fight cards. A couple for both consoles.

And of coarse myself (Nilhgual). I’m still here, clearly, for now anyways. I got called back into work this week, so a bit of a preview on how I’m going to deal come September when I start my new fulltime job. I’m hoping I will still be able to keep up with anything, we will see how it goes. If not there may potentially be some staff openings to help out. We already have a bunch of potential members, don’t post asking for the spot.

Thank you all for your time, and I’m hoping (fingers crossed) you all actually took the time to read this and not just skip to the parts your concerned about. Feel free to post any comments or conerns. As of now, these are official, and they will be getting added to the site rules. If in the future, a member conflicts with anything posted above and claims they didn’t know, too bad. Should have read it.
